Simple steps to change the door rubber seal

The car door seal will not have a certain age of deterioration depending on how hard it is used. If parked in the sun often, it may cause the rubber door seal to deteriorate faster than usual, such as it will be soft and hard when closing the door and it will close very easily as if it were not supported by rubber.

General car door seal kit is divided into two parts:

  1. The rubber keel is attached to the car body opposite the car door. The name of the rubber keel comes from its keel-like appearance, which has a rigid frame and one or two circular rubber mitts on the sides that are flexible.
  2. Door seal rubber is installed along the edge of the car door to act as a cushion for the door edge and the car when the door is closed.

Procedure for replacing the rubber keel and door rubber seal

  1. Remove the plastic covering the rubber keel bottom.
  2. You will see the joint of the rubber keel, start pulling up from this point.
  3. Pull the rubber keel in the bottom-up direction until it completely frees from the car body.
  4. Put the end of the new rubber keel down instead of the old one from bottom to top and press firmly by hand.
  5. When inserting the rubber keel to the full length, use scissors to cut the ends evenly.
  6. Pull out the rubber door seal completely starting from the top corner of the car door edge.
  7. Install the rubber door seal starting from the corner of the door edge and run it all over the door using your hand to press firmly until it is completely closed.
  8. Put the plastic cover on the rubber keel to open/close the door and it's done.
